Week11 "Flipbook"

The second assignment of project 3 was to make a series of images which need to express the interior space movement of the model we created in the last week. And try to develop the previous sculpture into a architecture form.

This series of hand-drawing images show clearly the movement of people going towards the building and experience inside the building.

Week10 "Montage It"

Montage: A picture or other work of art composed by assembling, overlaying, and overlapping many different materials or pieces collected from different sources.


I think this workshop has properly combine two of our previous assignment's skills together- model making and drawing, which are two of the main architectural representation. With modelling, an original conceptual were formed and drawing helps to develop the concept and direction and modification.


In the first week, we were supposed to understand design core theorem of one of the three chosen artists. As I was born to have the preference in some "dynamically freedom movement of curve"(complex idea I make up). Richard Serra's designs are my best choice.My understanding of Richard Serra's artworks is that he was trying to use the curve wall with large scale, directing people through the space and then suddenly turn up to be a broad opening. It is a language between closed and open.

With this understanding, I attempt to to create a similar experience through the space. It was a combined concepts of light tower, masts and sail.

Some Perspective Drawing: Some hints for starters are find some photos online and print them out, use tracing paper to trace the major lines and then render them with different drawing techniques. Use photoshop to adjust the brightness, contract, level, color and so on.

This workshop is about learning some architectural models techniques and how to use different  materials in presenting our intentions towards real architectures.

1: 50 Fish House is a detail development of our previous work, which is the site plan of Fisher House. And when during analyzing the plan, I noticed that most of the structural walls, functional stairs and living area and  windows concentrated in two facades of the whole building. So I decided to open those south and east facades, making them transparent with plastic to show the interior space.
