ARCH1101 EXP3 About Media Facade
Last week's lecture was talking about media facade. And this really interests me in applying this to my headquarter architecture. The night of street views in New York and Tokyo are exhaling the atmosphere and smell of modernization and technology, which really inspires me in having some experiments on my facade.
One of the inspiring architecture was the Korean Pavilion in Shanghai Expo 2010, with those thousands of Korean characters and symbols on the facade, creating a colorful and vivid skin of the building.
The other was the Danish Pavilion in Shanghai Expo 2010 as well. Lights go through the small holes of the facade and that projection staff project the images and video on the facade.

This is a staircase located in the north-west of Galicia, at thee border with Asturias and edging the estuary designed by Abalo Alonso Arquitectos, reminding me of our experiment 2's monument and landform design.
"We drop the idea of intervening in the historical quarter. We explore different
options involving the creation of new ways to connect the historical quarter
and the port, even if it involves the installation of a mechanical
transportation system. The Atalaya viewpoint becomes crucial in our project.
The difference in floor level is important, but the horizontal displacement is
almost inexistent. We explore three different options: conventional stairs,
mechanical stairs or an elevator. The problem with conventional stairs is that
nobody climbs up or down eight flights of stairs, more than a hundred steps.
The layout of the ground makes even more difficult the setting of mechanical
stairs. The slope, however, seems high and vertical enough for installing an
elevator.

To create a distinct approach from the monument space to the meeting space for architecture students near the the waterfall, I seperate the two entrance to the monument, the slope from the flat land direct to the second floor and the back opening chasing the outdoor bridge.
